  3. Participants must be 16 years of age or older on race day.

  6. The sale and/or transfer of race entries/bib numbers is strictly prohibited.

As long as you are able to complete the course within four hours, you can run.
We have carefully designed the course to ensure that every participant has the opportunity to cross our incredible finish line and enjoy the unforgettable Celebration and Recovery experience. To make this possible, we have implemented strategic redirection points along the course for those who may not meet the designated cut-off times. This ensures everyone can celebrate their achievement in style no matter their pace. Anyone who takes the ‘redirection” option will have their number recorded but will not be regarded as an official finisher.
Pacers assist runners to achieve their race goals. Nike After Dark will have a team of Nike Pacers. A pacer is an experienced runner who will run at an even effort/pace for the duration of the event to finish at target time and encourage participants along the way. Whether participants are a first-time half-marathoner or aiming for the next milestone finish time/personal best, there will be a pacer option for all. Each Pacer will be easily identifiable with the pace time on their back by a flag which will clearly display their target finish time.
All pacers will run to ‘Chip Time’ (net time rather than gun time) and pace as evenly as possible without banking time. Participants use them as a moving timeline on which to judge effort / race strategy. Pacer split times will be provided closer to the race date.
The Nike After Dark Sydney event is a rain or shine event. However, in the event of extreme weather conditions – such as severe thunderstorms, excessive winds or other hazardous conditions – the race may be changed, cancelled or postponed. If extreme weather develops or is forecast in the lead up to race start time, a decision will be made and communicated as early as possible based on participant safety and risk assessment. The safety of all participants, staff and spectators is our top priority. Please see the registration section and the Event Terms & Conditions for further information.
Yes, our course has been thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind to support all athletes to participate, including adaptive athletes and athletes with disabilities to participate and enjoy the event (provided they meet the participation requirements described above). Should you require any accessibility assistance, please contact afterdarktour@nike.com.
The Nike After Dark course in Sydney differs from a typical half marathon route and, unlike standard road-based courses, winds through Sydney's iconic foreshores, featuring a variety of terrains such as road, boardwalks, gravel paths, and narrow sections. Additionally, the race takes place at dusk, with some portions run in the dark.
To ensure the safety of all participants, we have introduced measures including introducing proper safety lighting throughout the course, and not permitting baby strollers and other wheeled devices, with the exception of authorised wheelchairs, handcycles, and other devices for participants with disabilities. We are also strongly advising all participants to exercise caution and factor in the terrain and lighting conditions when running at pace.
At points during the race and during post-race celebrations, there will be flashing lights that may affect runners who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy or other photo sensitivities. For more information, please contact customer service at afterdarktour@nike.com or speak to Event Coordinators at the event.
Shift applications are now closed. All volunteer shifts for the event have been filled. Thank you to all who have registered to volunteer. If you have any questions, email our volunteer management team - volunteers@pont3.com
We will have allocated cheer zones along the course and welcome friends, families and allies to support our runners at these locations. Please refer to the cheer zones FAQ for more details.

The Race

We recommend that participants arrive by 3:30pm AEST at Rozelle Parklands. Gates open at 2.30pm. Follow volunteer directions and wayfinding signage to the start location within Rozelle Parklands. Be sure to review the venue map that will be shared closer to the date, to locate facilities and start chute entry.
Keep in mind:
  1. The area will be busy with over 7,000 participants heading to Rozelle Parklands. Please be patient and friendly with fellow participants and volunteers.
  2. Hydrate well and ensure you warm-up properly.
  3. Listen to the emcee and notifications. Participants will be loaded into the start corrals ahead of their start time based on your designated wave.
  4. For the race, waves will have gaps to ensure space on the course. Your time starts once you cross the timing mat.
  5. You will be allocated a wave based on your expected finish time, that was specified in your registration.
  6. Please do not miss your start line time - there will be strict cut-off times. If you miss your cut-off time, Event Crew are permitted to push any runners back into the next wave. You may also be prevented from crossing the start line after the cut-off time.
The race start line is at Rozelle Parklands in Sydney's Inner West, and the race will start at 4:30pm (subject to specific wave start times). Gates open from 2.30pm.
There will be 6 waves (A, B, C, D, E & F) and your bib will indicate your designated wave. The waves will load one at a time through a single entrance to avoid over-crowding. Waves will be directed to the start line sequentially, with the emcee explaining the process and safety instructions. Each wave will be called up individually, with Wave A going first, followed by Waves B, C,D, E, & F.
To ensure runner safety, runners will be released in waves (Wave A-F) from 4:30pm AEST. Runners must enter the start corral when the emcee calls your wave.
All participants should aim to arrive at Rozelle Parklands by no later than 3.30pm AEST.
Participants are responsible for arriving at the start wave assigned to them, based on their best pace, and entering at the designated wave entry points before the wave closing times. Runners may move back to a slower wave but may not move forward to a faster wave. Once a wave is closed for entry, late-arriving participants must report to the next open wave. Participants must arrive with sufficient time to receive race directions. Late arrivals may, at the organiser’s discretion, be moved to another wave or have their registration forfeited.
Proper hydration is key to your performance. 6 drink stations will be available throughout the course, approximately every 3-5km.
Drink station number Distance from start Service
1 5km Water & electrolyte
2 8.75km Water
3 10.5km Water, electrolyte & gel
4 13.8km Water
5 16.3km Water & electrolyte
6 18.4km Water
To streamline disposal, bins are placed 50 meters beyond each aid station - making it easy for you to grab a drink, keep moving, and dispose of your paper cup responsibly for recycling.
We understand it’s challenging when you’re running at pace or feeling exhausted, but please try to collect your cup with care. This small effort helps minimise spills, conserve water, and maintain a clean course for fellow participants.
Please ensure you dispose of gel wrappers in the designated bins. If you’re bringing your own gels, be sure to hang onto the empty wrappers and discard them in the designated bins instead of littering along the route.
Before the race Ensure you fill out the back of your Race Bib with essential details, including emergency contact, allergies, existing medical conditions, and medications you're currently taking. This information is essential for first aid staff in case of an emergency. If you are feeling unwell, have had a fever in the last 48 hours, or experienced diarrhea, do not attempt to race. If you have any concerns about your health, consult your doctor before the event.
During the race A dedicated medical team will be available to support you throughout the course. First aid is available on course, with additional medical personnel patrolling on bikes and buggies for prompt assistance if needed. Review the course maps to familiarise yourself with the locations of first aid stations at the start, along the course, and at the finish line. If you notice another runner requiring medical help, immediately alert the nearest event official or medical team member.
After the race After crossing the finish line, keep moving to help your body begin its natural recovery process. If you feel unwell post-race, visit the first aid facility located near the retail area at Tumbalong Park or alert race officials.
A dedicated cheer zone has been made so your crew can catch you at one of the best spots along the course. Please view the After Dark Tour Sydney cheer zone map here.
rebel After Dark Tour Cheer Zone 4:00PM - 8:00PM AEST Tramsheds: 1 Dalgal Wy, Forest Lodge NSW 2037, Australia Express your interest here.
In addition to this, the following spectator zones have been made available to send off your loved ones or cheer them on as they head to the finish line.
Rozelle Parklands – Start Line 2:30PM – 5:00PM AEST Please refer to the start village map here Main entry via the Pedestrian Bridge from Rozelle Station or Lilyfield Rd.
Tumbalong Park Boulevard – Finish Line 4:30PM – 9:15PM AEST Main entry is via Civic Connector (near Vesta Café). Please refer to the supporter access map here for the walking route to the finish chute spectating area.
Although headphones are permitted, we recommend avoiding their use to ensure you can hear important instructions from marshals and traffic management.
Your net finish time remains accurate, as the timing chip only activates when you cross the start timing mats.
Runners must avoid running in big groups or run maximum 2 abreast due to tight areas of the course. There will also be no overtaking areas along the course so please keep an eye out for the course signs.
We want to make sure everyone has a chance to experience our end of race celebrations. Our on course marshals will assist runners if required at the following redirection points to make sure all runners finish within the 4 hour time allocation:
  1. Cnr James Craig Road and Sommerville Rd
  2. Bicentennial Park
  3. Pirrama Park/Harris St
Standard and accessible toilets are conveniently located along the course at every 5km mark. Exact locations will be provided in the course map. Please make use of the toilet facilities available at the start area, along the course, and at the finish line. Public urination is prohibited by law. Due to the high volume of participants, there may be queues, so we recommend using the restroom at home before heading out and allowing extra time for a bathroom stop if needed prior.
To minimise the event’s environmental impact, please dispose of all waste in the bins provided, particularly cups and energy gel packets at aid stations. Littering can significantly harm the event and delay road reopening times due to necessary cleanup efforts.

After you cross the finish line, the celebration begins. Head straight to Tumbalong Park for an unforgettable After Dark Tour Sydney post-race experience.
Enjoy the vibrant food village, licensed bar areas (please bring ID), live performances on the main stage, retail for all your post-race merchandise and bookable Recovery Suite sessions on the evening to help you unwind and recharge.
When it’s time to head out, exits are from Tumbalong Park will be via Civic Connector and Liverpool Street.

  2. Tumbalong Park (main supporter entrance via Civic Connector near Vesta Cafe)
  3. The After Dark Celebration map is here.
As you run across the finish line, you’ll find water, electrolytes, and your well-earned finisher’s medal. To minimise the event’s environmental impact, please dispose of all waste in the bins provided,
For everyone’s safety, access outside the park near the finish chute will not be permitted. However, you can watch your fellow runners cross the finish line from the designated viewing area.
We encourage all runners to keep moving beyond the finish chute to aid recovery and keep the path clear for those still finishing.
After the race, head to the baggage service zone—the same spot where you dropped off your bag. Look for the clearly marked wave queue lines and keep your race bib on so event staff can quickly locate your bag.
Once you’ve collected your recycled bag, please use the designated bins to dispose of any rubbish.
Bag collection will be made available until 10pm
Need assistance? A support queue line will be available at the information tent for any help you may need.
We’ve given 1,000 runners the chance to secure a free ticket for a family member or friend to join them in the celebration space. We've received an unprecedented response, tickets were limited and these have now sold out.
If you are a registered race participant, you do not need to register for another ticket. Your race bib gains you entry into the post-race celebration. For any race participant that has registered for a guest ticket, you will receive an email to cancel this and instruct your guest to register for themselves.
Missed out on securing a ticket? Head to one of our dedicated Cheer Zones for the perfect spot to cheer on your loved ones along the course. Further information can be found within these FAQs.
Gates to Tumbalong Park open from 4:30PM AEST. We suggest allowing sufficient travel time to ensure you can catch your loved one as they cross the finish line. Main entry will be via Civic Connector near Vesta Cafe.
